Pish-Posh

So we all know that I am probably the flakiest blogger on the face of this planet. I also only post if I have a great picture to show y’all. (Lets admit it while we’re on the topic of pictures vs. writing: picture books are much more entertaining than chapter books. ‘Nuff said.)

The truth of why I’m posting a “pish-posh” blog, as I like to call it, is because I, Irene InsertLastNameHere, am embarking on a summer adventure soon. Yes, I will be working in the high Sierra’s again. Currently camp grounds are under snow. BUT, AmeriCorps volunteers are hard at work shoveling away. So, what exactly is in the forecast for the weeks ahead you ask?

Work. Sledding. Beanies.

Yes. I did in fact cross out “work”. The silly truth about camp is that the actual “work” experience at camp is far too fun for myself to consider it actual work.

Bridal Veil Falls

No, it wont be all snow and cold the entire summer. Eventually the snow will melt. But for now, I’ll enjoy the cold all I can. I can’t wait.

Three Blind Mice

I have two best friends.

We share. We bicker. We are inseparable.

I don’t consider ourselves the three musketeers. We’re more like three blind mice; we depend on each other for survival. :)

Dear Thanksgiving,

SAM_0376_edited-1

Today was supposed to be an exciting day. It wasn’t. Thankfully I have my books to snuggle up to.

I am tranquil, yet I am fierce. I like avocado’s, yet I dislike guacamole. I am young person, yet I am an old soul. I like to listen, yet I dislike responding. I love the sun yet I hate summer. I am… indecisive.

Only a week until thanksgiving break. Please, don’t delay my dear thanksgiving.

Picnic in the Woods

Today was a wonderfully perfect afternoon to go picnicking in the woods. The sun was out and I was delighted to hear the familiar sound of crackling leaves under my feet on the forest ground. It was a very romantic scene. Though, after leaving the woods it got eerily windy and cold.

I brought along a thermostat filled with bubbling hot English tea, holiday tea cookies (Yes, it is a little early for the holidays, but those cookies are just so dang delicious), homemade farmed honey, and some of my favorite reads; Peter Pan and, one of my newest reads, The Grimm's Compete Fairy Tales.

It was quite a childish adventure, but completely satisfying. Nothing but the sound of fluttering leaves and bustling squirrels preparing for the winter added to my sense of imagination. I so do wish that I could read and withdraw from reality forever.

Happy traveling. Hope to share some of my upcoming adventures with you all soon!

Hello Teaday: Week 1

For those of you wondering, “What ever happened to dear old Motivation Monday?” lets just admit it… they weren’t very motivational days at all.

This is about the point of the post were you should slap on a Spanish moustache & start crying uncontrollably, shouting, “Porque?! Por-quee?!” At which I respond with, “I have a bigger and better solution to our little predicament:”

teaday

I drink tea, A LOT. Maybe more than required for my sanity, but none the less… You can always count on me having a fresh, hot cup of juju juice to help me mull over a few ideas.

Enter Hello Teaday : a great way to get serious and discuss a few quotes, poems, and inspirational words once a week (every Tues Teaday).(In a way, Motivate Monday still lives!) So, commencing today’s inspiration and tea of the like:

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
- Helen Keller

This quote… made me smile :) We often pursue objects, jobs, a life which we believe leads to our happiness; in reality we are completely wrong and naive. Finally realizing we made the wrong decisions, it’s often too late to turn back to the open door. This is a story that will repeat itself too many times to name in your lifetime. Helen Keller, you were very wise.

Currently I am drinking Bengal Spice Tea. Hmm, this tea is perfect for opening up sinuses if you have a cold, just as this quote is perfect for opening up your mind. Coincidence? I’ll let you decide… Happy traveling.
